The Swarthmore Group History

The Swarthmore Group was founded in 1991 by James E. Nevels, the firm’s Chairman.  Formerly an investment banker, Mr. Nevels recognized an opportunity to provide a needed service to one of his clients.  The result was a $35 million core equity mandate for a city pension fund.  The Swarthmore Group is now honored to be managing approximately $2.1 billion in institutional assets for a diverse group of clients.

The Firm’s growth was built one relationship at a time, with clients selecting The Swarthmore Group based on personal trust and remaining as clients based on professional trust and concrete investment results.
